Looking out our store windows at the gloomy rainy day today got us thinking…the end of a snowy winter offers the wonderful promise of a blooming spring! Take a look at these excellent pieces for spring choral concerts:
There Will Come Soft Rains by Laura Farnell sets a hauntingly beautiful text by Sara Teasdale. Simple but powerful, the text explores nature’s perspective on human actions. Farnell’s music depicts a gentle spring rain shower, which is the impetus for new life described in the text. A lovely feature for middle school or high school treble voices for spring concerts. A more pop-style “rain themed” piece is Come Rain or Come Shine, arranged by Jay Althouse. The sultry ballad by Johnny Mercer and Harold Arlen receives a dazzling treatment in this arrangement, including a great piano accompaniment and lush choral writing. It’s perfect for concert choirs as well as show or jazz groups. Click here for the full recording.
