New Broadway Production of “West Side Story” opens March 2009

When Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story opened on Broadway in 1957, it was considered to be ground-breaking and revolutionary.  A new production, scheduled to open on Broadway on March 19, 2009, will continue this innovative tradition by selectively weaving Spanish throughout both the book and the songs.  The translations to the lyrics are done by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who wrote the Tony Award-winning musical In the Heights.

This is a great opportunity to feature the incredible music of West Side Story on your spring concerts!  Here are just a few of the choral arrangements available:

West Side Story Choral Medley SATB arranged by Len Thomas

Gee, Officer Krupke TTBB arranged by Ed Lojeski

I Feel Pretty SSA arranged by William Stickles

Somewhere SATB a cappella arranged by Robert Edgerton
