Eric Whitacre’s Virtual Choir

Want to be a part of something new and exciting?  Composer Eric Whitacre is in the process of compiling his second Virtual Choir on YouTube.  Begun as an experiment on Eric’s blog in May, the final product (a massed “virtual choir” performance of Sleep) was posted to YouTube in July.  Singers from around the world recorded themselves performing their individual part of the work and posted it, and Eric compiled all the individual recordings into an amazingly musical mass performance!

Now the internet community is preparing the perform Lux Aurumque.  The deadline to submit YOUR performance is December 1st, 2009.  Eric has posted a conductor track with some performance suggestions and tips on his blog.

John Rutter is well-known for his exquisite Christmas music, and this lovely piece continues his fine tradition.  I Wish You Christmas sets a delightfully captivating text to an equally wonderful piano accompaniment.  Filled with the musical warmth for which Rutter is so renowned, it’s perfect for setting the mood in secular holiday concerts.

Cool iPhone App

For all of you 3G & iPhone users, here is a really cool application that you can download to your cell phone. Even if you don’t have one of these phones, check out the video anyways–someone was really creative when they wrote the program to do this on 3G phones.

We’ve tweeted the link to this video and as a result have been re-tweeted over and over.  Unfortunately, you would not be able to purchase the app off of Stanton’s website, but you can do a download purchase from the iTunes store.  Even when a thing really doesn’t have much to do with Stanton’s, sometimes we love it so much we just have to pass it along!
