The World’s Greatest Gospel Songs
For the first time, some of the best gospel songs are in a book together!
This new book, The World’s Greatest Gospel Songs, includes a CD ROM with printable music. The buyer may print up to 2 copies each of each PDF file.
The songs are written out in 3 treble parts, with the lowest part being for tenor.
The piano part is a true accompaniment. Chord symbols are written above the staff in case the pianist wants to improvise to dress the part up.
Take a look! Some of these songs are hard to find at all! For more information about this, or other products, please email us.
New! In Recital With Popular Music
Hot off the press is a new series from the FJH Music Company. There are 6 books that each include a recording on a CD of that book’s pieces being performed. Levels range in difficulty from Early Elementary to Late Intermediate. The songs included are a fun blend of Disney songs, folk songs, and standards.
New Broadway Production of “West Side Story” opens March 2009
When Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story opened on Broadway in 1957, it was considered to be ground-breaking and revolutionary. A new production, scheduled to open on Broadway on March 19, 2009, will continue this innovative tradition by selectively weaving Spanish throughout both the book and the songs. The translations to the lyrics are done by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who wrote the Tony Award-winning musical In the Heights.
This is a great opportunity to feature the incredible music of West Side Story on your spring concerts! Here are just a few of the choral arrangements available:
West Side Story Choral Medley SATB arranged by Len Thomas
Gee, Officer Krupke TTBB arranged by Ed Lojeski
I Feel Pretty SSA arranged by William Stickles
Somewhere SATB a cappella arranged by Robert Edgerton

Wax on! Wax off!
WAX! Stanton’s put our best foot forward in
wax technology this past Presidents Day weekend. Ok, it’s not that exciting, nor did we do anything revolutionary in floor waxing, but…
This past weekend, Stanton’s staff moved as much of our furniture and fixtures off of the showroom floor as we possibly could in preparation for the showroom floor to be stripped and waxed
starting Saturday night. By the time we re-opened Tuesday morning after the long holiday weekend, the floors were ready for reinstallment of our displays and fixtures. We thought a couple pictures would surprise some of our customers who know our store by heart.
It looks FANTASTIC!
Exciting New Music for Middle School Choirs!
With the all-too-brief warm-up in temperatures the past week or so, we’re hearing from our customers that their students already have “spring fever!” Keep your middle-schoolers focused on music with these fun, new publications:
“I’m Goin’ There!” is a twist on the traditional spiritual “Wayfaring Stranger,” arranged by Greg Gilpin. The mysterious, bluesy sound will keep students intrigued. It was published last fall, but has been receiving a lot of attention for spring concerts.
Kids have always enjoyed the silly lyrics of the folksong “Old Joe Clark.” Russ Robinson’s new arrangement spices it up with carefully placed syncopations that really freshen up this old standard.
Bring the house down at your spring concert with this
Discovery Jazz Series arrangement of “Jump, Jive an’ Wail!” Roger Emerson gives new life to the song made famous by Brian Setzer and his orchestra. Your students will love singing it, your audience will love hearing it, and YOU will love the teaching opportunities in it!
For more information (or for more great recommendations!), give us a call at 1-800-42-MUSIC, and ask to speak to a choral department representative.
Newest Volume of “Teaching Music Through Performance in Band”
Recently released is Volume 7 of Teaching Music Through Performance in Band. As in the other volumes there is
an extensive analysis of 100 significant works for band. The book focuses on a broad range of the best wind band literature currently in publication. This series is known for detailing historical background of the composers and its respective influence in creating compositions. You will also find form and structural analysis, plus technical and stylistic considerations. The companion CD contains recordings of many of the Grade 2 & 3 selections from the book. This volume also features breakdowns of other pedagogical books: Edward S. Lisk’s “Imagination and Creativity,” “The Cornerstones for Program Success,” by Tim Lautzenheiser, “Focus,” by Larry Blocher, “Rehearsing and Teaching” by Richard Miles, plus other discussions from prominent band authors and composers. Visit Stanton’s website for more details on this exciting new release!
Easy Piano Twilight Arrives!
The ever-popular movie Twilight has now come out again in easy piano format. If you don’t want to play the most difficult piano arrangements of Carter Burwell’s, you’ll want to take a look at this piano book. We have found the advanced piano folios of Twilight flying off the shelves (almost literally) here at Stanton’s. We expect now that people will like this easy piano Twilight format even more!
Spring Awakening is Hot!
If you are under 18, close your eyes. We wish to feature a new product, the vocal selections for ”Spring Awakening“. This musical recently played in Columbus at the Ohio Theatre to a sold out crowd. This is one of the hottest new musicals in New York and is loosely based on a play by Frank Wedekind. It’s wildly successful not only for its great music, but it has a reputation of being a little risque. After winning 8 Tony awards it’s become one of Stanton’s most popular Broadway vocal selections.
New Jazz Clinic Announcement

Details are being finalized right now but this will be a “how to teach” session for ALL music teachers and music education majors. Stay tuned for exciting details!
