Update: Twilight Sheet Music
Stanton’s is pleased to announce the release of the piano solo book for Twilight: The Score, music composed by Carter Burwell. We have plenty in stock, available for you local Columbus-ians to pick up or ready to be shipped out to wherever you are.
I’ve checked out some of the ‘free’ versions of Bella’s Lullaby you can find online that are transcribed by the movie fans out there, and I can say that while some of them sound quite good, many are riddled with errors in the rhythm or the chords, or both. They may sound close, but I would recommend getting the real thing if you want to play it and mean it. The book is just 14.99 and you get the nice glossy covered book with artwork and these 11 titles:
Check back soon because in mid-January, the Piano/Vocal/Guitar book that includes songs by Paramore, Linkin Park, Muse, as well as many others, will be released. The songlist for this book is below:
Carter Burwell – Bella’s Lullaby
Paramore – Decode
The Black Ghosts – Full Moon
Paramore – I Caught Myself
Linkin Park – Leave Out All The Rest
Mute Math – Spotlight (Twilight Remix)
Muse – Supermassive Black Hole
Collective Soul – Tremble For My Beloved

Stanton’s Upcoming Church Music Reading Session

Once again, we are coming up on the Stanton’s Church Music Reading session, January 10th, 2009. The clinic will be held at it’s usual place, The Otterbein College Battelle Fine Arts Center. Attending this clinic is a fantastic way for you to choose new church anthems for your choir and be able to hear the music read live at the clinic. This January’s clinicians will be Stanton’s own Judy Henry and James Strouse. The registration will be $20.00 and each registrant will receive a free packet of the clinic pieces that will be read. Please feel free to contact a Stanton’s at 1-800-42-MUSIC and speak with choral staff member for the details of the event. We look forward to seeing you at 8:30 for coffee and doughnuts followed by a wonderful morning of singing!
New Real Book CD’s Just Released
The Real Book, Play-Along
Ok…how many times have you heard someone say, ”this is the best thing since sliced bread”? Well, THIS IS THE BEST THING SLICED BREAD! The Hal Leonard Company has really done it this time! They just released play-along recordings for the famous Real Book, Vol. 1. They’ve broken up the recordings alphabetically into 4 separate volumes which each contain 3 CDs. Each volume, containing 40 tunes, costs $24.95. That’s right!!! 40 kickin’ play-along tracks for $24.95!!! These are not sterile sounding tracks but energetic recordings including intros and codas you would hear on gigs. There are a number of recordings included that have never been on jazz play along before. These four volumes are well worth the investment for pros and students alike. Also, the word on the street is that volume 2 is in the works.
General Music Classroom Resources
These past few months has given Stanton’s a chance to see what are some of the stand out General Music titles that have been
selling very well this past fall school year. Many of the products have been teacher resources, recorder collections, and theory products that were featured on our August reading session. Here are some of our favorite products that have proven to be our best sellers.
Alles Gute zum Geburtstag, Herr Beethoven!

I had a professor in college who used to interpret all of music history in reference to the life of Beethoven: “How old was Beethoven when Schubert composed ‘Der Erlkönig’?” 45.
He must live for days like this.
You would be hard pressed to find a musician unwilling to acknowledge Beethoven’s role in the development of modern music. He was one of the greatest composers of symphonies, piano sonatas, string quartets, mandolin music, composer of the first true song cycle (An die ferne Geliebte), a lover of yellow soap, and notorious thrower of food.
Today is also the 235th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party. So, brew yourself a cup of Earl Grey or some Li Shan oolong, listen to Fritz Wunderlich perform “Auf dem Hügel sitz ich spähend” and wish Mr. Beethoven a happy birthday, because without him many of us would not have jobs.
